News - Habitat to build

Ashley Kuzar discussed the opportunities Habitat for Humanity provides for volunteers who want to travel and help people to eight interested Pitt-Johnstown students Thursday in the Cambria Room.

“We got to roast marshmallows at the top of a volcano,” said Kuzar, as she described one of her experiences helping people in foreign countries.

“You get to see poverty firsthand,” she said.

Pitt-Johnstown sophomores Kara Larry and Megan Huggins were present for the Habitat for Humanity meeting.

“We went to Alabama last year,” Larry said.

Huggins said she enjoyed helping families.

“We built a house from the bottom up, roof and all.”

A total of 111 Pitt-Johnstown students are to participate in the Habitat for Humanity Spring Break trips this year.
